A hero is an individual who inspires you. My hero is Amanda Bynes. Why Amanda Bynes, you may inquire? Foremost, she is one of the only positive teen role models. What I am implying is that she is not in tabloids. She also doesn’t drink or party.

Amanda was born in Thousand Oaks California on April 3rd 1986 to father Dr. Rick Bynes (dentist) and mother Lynn Bynes (works in her husband's dental office). She has two older siblings named Tommy and Jillian. She is half Catholic and half Jewish. However she identifies herself as Jewish. Her hobbies are shopping, making jewelry, and swimming.

Amanda was very interested in her career at the young age of 3. Amanda spent part of her childhood in a comedy camp and performing in several plays. These plays included "Annie" at the Camarillo Youth Center, as Scout in "To Kill a Mockingbird" at the Arts Council Center in Thousand Oaks, and as Mary in "The Secret Garden" at the Conejo Players Theater. She landed her first television job in a commercial for Nestle's Buncha Crunch candy. Amanda started becoming noticed as an actress in the panel of “Figure it out,” after which she joined the cast of “All That” and “The Amanda Show.”. She later received 2 “Kids Choice Awards” for both shows featured on Nickelodeon.

Her big screen debut came in 2002 when film director Shawn Levy handed her the role of Frankie Muniz's friend Kaylee in the comedy "Big Fat Liar." This movie snagged Amanda a "Kids Choice Award" for favorite movie actress. In the same year, Amanda also played Holly Tyler in the family comedy, "What I Like About You," which also snagged her a "Kids Choice Award" for Favorite Actress in both 2002 and also 2003.

Amanda's next big movie theater appearance was doubtlessly the starring role of Daphne in “What A Girl Wants.” This provided her the "Nickelodeon Kids Choice Award" for Favorite Movie Actress in 2004. She also starred in the animated feature "Robots" as Piper. After that she starred in the hit teen comedy "She's the Man." She played Viola Hastings. Amanda enjoyed this. She announces, "I enjoy doing things that are scary or things that some girls might not like because it won't let them look gorgeous. Like, in my new movie I play a boy, and everyday they'd pin my hair back and I'd have no makeup. That's when you start relying more on your sense of humor." Currently Amanda is working on the movie "Hairspray." "Hairspray" began filming in Toronto in September of 2006. Little is known about this project thus far.

"People should strive to be happy with who they are and not be obsessed with how they look. Beauty is nothing"
