Antoine Dodson

When I was little, I used to think a hero was someone that could scale walls and save people. I mean sure, a lot of comic book heroes do have powers like these, but the real heroes don't. To me to be a real life hero means that they will go to whatever measure to protect, inform, or serve their country. There are a huge amount of these kind of people that do not get recognized. I think it is time for some recognition.

My hero is brave, helpful and caring. His name is Antoine Dodson. If you have never heard of Antoine, he is the oldest brother of six. He was born in the year 1986, and he lived in the Lincoln Housing project in Huntsville, Alabama. Antoine is a hairstylist, and he also goes to Virginia College! Antoine is a proud gay, and he says not to judge him.

I'm sure you have heard of Antoine, but if you haven't, he has gotten extremely famous off of a news report. Antoine's news report was about a guy that tried to rape his sister. The news report has gone viral. It has earned Antoine enough money to buy a house. Antoine has also started a charity for diabetes. In an interview with Dodson it says, "The whole situation was a blessing in disguise." This is a great attitude towards the situation.

I chose Antoine as my hero because he shows that it doesn't matter how hard of a time you're going through you can always make the best of it. Even though Antoine was a rape victim when he was little, and he is always being made fun of because of his sexual orientation, he has made the best of his situation. Antoine has made millions of dollars from all of his organizations and clothing lines. Dodson has started a charity for juvenile diabetes. Diabetes has affected his sister and mother. Starting a charity shows how caring Antoine really is.

As you can see, Antoine is caring, optimistic, and was extremely ghetto fabulous. He isn't ghetto fabulous anymore though. Antoine now moved his family into a larger house out of the projects. He continues to make money off of many things. Although he is rich and famous, people still constantly make fun of him. It doesn't really bother him though. Right now is probably the best that his life has ever been, and he isn't going to let anyone change that.
