Albert Einstein

by Chris from San Diego

"Any intelligent fool can make things bigger and more complex... It takes a touch of genius - and a lot of courage to move in the opposite direction."

Albert was born on March 15,1879 in Ulm, Germany. As a young boy, Einstein once said “I do not like going to school because it is so strict.” It is a surprise that he would say this because he was such a brilliant physicist that you would assume that he loved school. As an adult, Einstein was still a child at heart. He had fun like an eleven year old child, even as brilliant as he was. Albert Einstein was a brilliant man from his early childhood to the day he died.

Einstein and his family were Jewish, but at that time, his family practiced Catholic customs because it was the popular religion. Recall that Einstein did not like schooling at all because they were very strict. The schools that he attended were very catholic and military based, thus making them strict in a young boys eyes. Einstein was forced to wear uniforms, and was spanked or smacked when he acted out in class. He was not a “student that did his work”. Most of his teachers saw him and recalled him as a “goof off”. He would do his work, while at the same time, making others laugh. Although Einstein did not like school, it seemed that when he excelled as a student, he excelled as a man.

At the age of five, Einstein recalled his father showing him a compass. He said that it was “strange that the needles knew where to point, even though nothing was touching them.” Einstein later said, “I remember that day to make an impression on me, and it lasted forever.” At that time, the theory of electromagnetism was still in its own childhood. It wasn't taught to him in school, so he had to teach himself.

Einstein's second scientific experiment occurred when he was only twelve years of age, and involved geometry. “By this time, Einstein had passed on to Gymnasium. This was really high school, but at a serious level.” The discipline at the Luitpold Gymnasium, in Munich Germany was even more military than that of his elementary schools.

I believe that Albert Einstein should be considered a hero because of all of the theorems that he came up with. Such as how he taught many people about electromagnetism and math. He also played a big role in ending World War II because he made the atom bomb. He should also be looked at as a hero because of all of the perseverance that he had when he taught himself subjects.
