Anne Frank

Anne Frank was the author of The Diary of Anne Frank. She went into hiding from the Nazis for 2 years before she was caught and sent to a concentration camp.

Anne Frank wrote the Diary of Anne Frank, although she probably never intended for it to be published. Her diary tells of the prejudices the Jews faced, and her hope that they would someday be free.

She was born in Frankfurt am Main, Germany of Otto and Edith Frank. The Frank family moved to Amsterdam, Holland in 1933 because Adolf Hitler was elected as Chancellor of Germany that year, and Otto Frank feared for the safety of his family. During July 1942 to August 1944,the Franks hid in the "Secret Annexe" with the Van Pel family and Pfeffer. The 'Secret Annexe" was actually the back of a warehouse.

Anne Frank was born in Frankfurt am Main, Germany on June 12, 1929. She died in early March 1945 in the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp in Germany of a typhus epidemic, not too long after her sister Margot's death.

She is my hero because she's taught me that hope can't die, no matter how bleak the odds. Anther reason she's my hero is that she persevered through the 2 years that she was in hiding.
