Anne Frank lived in a time that was hard for everyone. She had the courage to fight through her life, and never lost sight of hope. Anne’s life was a constant struggle after 1932. “By 1932 Adolph Hitler had risen to power in Germany and instead of enjoying democracy, the German people now suffered under the rule of a dictator” (Garden of Praise).

Anne was a young Jewish girl who, lived and died during the Holocaust. She was born to Otto and Edith Frank, on June 12, 1929, in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. Anne and her family lived happily, with no worries, until January 30, 1941. When Adolf Hitler became Chancellor of Germany, Anne and her family fled Germany to Holland, and soon after went into hiding. For two years they stayed in hiding, protected under the Secret Annex, the name for their hidden room. After being discovered and dragged out of hiding on August 4, 1944, they were put on a cattle car and sent to Auschwitz, a Nazi run concentration camp. Anne died at the age of fifteen the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp in March, 1945, one month before it was liberated.

Anne was courageous. She had to live in hiding for a little over two years of her life, but fought through it, even after their safe protection was found and invaded. Anne was unfortunate to have lived, as well as many others, during the Holocaust, but she continued to fight through life. “Anne Frank faced the threat of discovery and death every day while living in the Secret Annex. Despite terrible circumstances, however, her strength of spirit comes through in her diary” (Scholastic Inc.).

Not only was she courageous, but she was also very hopeful. As the people around her, people that she knew and didn’t know were dying every day Anne kept her hope. In the two years that Anne and her family were in hiding, they had to keep silent and still. Anne used her diary to write her feelings and show that she was hopeful. “Among the two years and one month that Anne lived in the Secret Annex, she wrote about her fears, her hopes, and her character” (Rosenberg). This shows that you should never lose sight of hope. No matter how bad things might turn out, it is always something you should have.

Anne should be an inspiration to everyone. She lived through an extremely hard time for everyone, and she fought through almost every second of it, never losing hope, until the moment she died. Anne’s diary was a big help to showing the truth of the Holocaust. A true hero would keep faith, and fight through the hard times, and that’s exactly what Anne did.
