Ashley Graham

There seems to be different types of heroes to give an example: teachers, aids,  angels, animals, artists, business, community, earthkeepers, explorers, faith, family, freedom, health, lifesavers, literary, peacekeepers, philosophy, poets, scientists, sports, women, writers, and young heroes. Different heroes are different as an example my hero, Ashley Graham, is confident and doesn't care what others have to say about her body or her flaws. Other heroes can be caring and/or patient. To me the word hero means a person who is admired or idealized for courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities.  Ashley Graham is one of my heroes. My hero.

Ashley Graham was born in Lincoln, Nebraska. She grew up in Lincoln, Nebraska. Ashley has two younger sisters

and her parents. She looks up to models, however she was afraid to be one through her size and body shape. As a

kid she started to get bullied through her weight and how she looked. Ashley is now a model for plus size women.

She was first discovered at the age of 12 by l & l agency at Omaha mall. She attended a modeling convention in

2001, and would sign with Wilhelmina Models there before also signing with Ford Models in 2003.

Ashley had many great accomplishments throughout her modeling career, yet  she is the first plus size model to ever be on a Vogue magazine cover, also I think to walk a runway in lingerie. She has affected those who are called plus size because she is representing the plus size community.  She and Kate Dillon Levin were both featured in the October 2009 Glamour editorial These Bodies are Beautiful at Every Size. Lingerie model for the clothing store Lane Bryant who has graced the cover of Elle Quebec and been featured in fashion magazines including Glamour, Vogue and Harper's Bazaar. She has done several Levi's campaigns and had appeared on MTV's Made as a coach. She was named Full Figured Fashion Week's Model of the Year in 2012. She designed a lingerie line for Addition Elle in 2013. She was featured in an advertisement in Sports Illustrated's annual swimsuit issue for Swimsuits For All.  Ashley Graham, my hero, deserves to be called a hero because I would look up to the other models who weren't thick or like my body type, so now that there's a model that's my body type I feel good and now I don't need to think you have to  be skinny to be a model. Every body types are beautiful in their own way.

My hero, Ashley Graham,  has many great traits, but  there's 3 that stand out to me. The first one is her confidence. I chose that because she said "I'm a model who loves my curves and isn't afraid to show them,". This shows confidence because she doesn't care what others have to say about her flaws. The second trait funny. I chose that because she laughs a  lot and about how she doesn't care what people say about her body. The last trait is her independence. I chose this because she didn't need help to gain her confidence about her body. She said ''It doesn't matter if you're a size 2 or 22, you can be healthy as long as you're taking care of your body, working out, and telling yourself 'I love you' instead of taking in the negativity of beauty standards.''

In conclusion, my hero, Ashley Graham, has helped me gain confidence about my body I still want to lose weight and be fit, but I want to stay thick. Now that I am losing weight, but still what to be thick and keep my big thighs she is becoming more of a hero to me. Ashley Graham is a hero to others and I through how she can affect many people in the plus size community.
