Abraham Lincoln is my hero. He was born February 12, 1809, in Hodgenville, Hardin County, Kentucky. Lincoln sadly died on April 15, 1865. He was the 16th president of the United States of America. Abe Lincoln was the President in the years 1861-1865.

On January 1, 1863 he was against slavery and wanted black people to be free, not slaves. He thought it was wrong to treat black people badly even though he knew some people wouldn't agree with him that slaves should not be slaves. So he fought against the people who believed that slavery was not wrong.

Abe Lincoln led the Union to victory in the American Civil War against slavery. He also helped save the country from splitting apart. The Civil War ended April 9, 1865. Six days later, Lincoln died. Abraham Lincoln was a hero to everyone. He is my hero!
