Abraham Lincoln was born on February 12, 1809. He was very nice and would "never lie" so the called him Honest Abe. He was the sixteenth president of the United States. He was the president during the Civil War and freed the slaves. Some of the people that wanted slavery didn't like Abe because he stopped it. In 1865 Abraham Lincoln was assassinated by a man named John Wilkes Booth. It was inside a theater. Abraham Lincoln was killed on April 14, 1865.

 What makes Abraham Lincoln a hero is that he was a president that stopped slavery so I would think that he is a hero for what he did. He was very brave. I think everyone will remember Abe for what he had done. He freed the slaves in the South and announced the Emancipation Proclamation which prohibited slavery.

  When he was young he would cut down trees and read books a lot . Then that's how he got smart. He wanted to be president because he wanted to stop all the slavery. The reason he wanted to stop was because he saw African Americans get "bullied'' by the Americans and he didn't think it was fair.

  So since he became president he had tried many times to stop slavery and by trying to do that he caused the Civil War. The Civil War was about the North vs. the South. So on April 14, 1865, Abe Lincoln was assassinated by a man named John Wilkes Booth.

 Everyone thinks Abe Lincoln is a hero because of everything he did. Like he was the 16th president, he stopped slavery and all those things but those are all political. The reason I think he he is a hero is because he didn't lie or he was really smart so i think he put out a good example to everyone so if there were a president that i had to choose from it would definitely be Abraham Lincoln.
