Early Life
Lincoln was born on February 12, 1809. Lincoln was born in a cabin made of logs so it was called a log cabin. The cabin was located in Hardin County, KY. His grandfather was killed by Indians, Lincoln's father Thomas Lincoln became a carpenter and bought three farms in Kentucky but then the Lincolns left the state of Kentucky. There is not so much known about Lincoln’s mom Nancy Hanks Lincoln.

Illinois Legislator
Lincoln ran unsuccessfully for the Illinois legislature in the year of 1832. After two years he was chosen for lower house for the first of four successive terms until the year of 1841 as a part of the Whig party. Lincoln's father was a part of the Whig party too so it was natural for Lincoln to have membership in the Whig party.

The Slavery Issue
Lincoln thought that expanding slavery was a bad idea. Though Lincoln was not a part of the abolitionist party, Lincoln thought the issue of slavery was not right. Although the Constitution did not mention slavery, it codified it. States where slavery existed were protected by the Constitution of the United States of America. America’s founding fathers put the issue of slavery on a path to disappear.

I think that Lincoln was the greatest hero the United States had because Lincoln saved the U.S. from the country spreading apart, Lincoln freed the slaves while keeping the nation together. I think he is the best and the greatest hero of all. That is what I think when I think of a hero. Seeing what Lincoln did makes me want to help the nation.
