"All that I am, or hope to be, I owe all to my angel mother," Abraham Lincoln (Abraham Lincoln Quotes). Abraham Lincoln was one of the greatest presidents in US history. He is a hero because of his two heroic traits, compassion and perseverance because he helped stop slavery and helped the US stay one country.
One of Abraham Lincoln's biggest influences as a child has to be his love of reading. That probably is why he has compassion and persevered because of reading. The next paragraph has why I think Abraham Lincoln is compassionate and persevered.
Abraham Lincoln is a hero to many because he is compassionate and perseverant. He is compassionate because of what he thought about slavery. On biography.com, it says, "Though Abraham Lincoln felt African Americans were not equal to whites, he believed the America's founders intended that all men were created with certain inalienable rights" (Abraham Lincoln Biography). This evidence proves that he is a hero because it shows he thinks that slavery is a very bad thing because he thought people shouldn't own people. He persevered because on, biography.com, it states, "With the hopeful, but by no means conclusive Union victory at Antietam on September 22, 1862, Lincoln felt confident enough to reshape the cause of the war from saving the union to abolishing slavery" (Biography.com editors). This quote proves that Abraham Lincoln is a hero because he didn't stop until he stopped it. All this evidence proves that Abraham Lincoln is compassionate and perseverant.
The impact that Abraham Lincoln had on the United States was that he stopped slavery forever. Also, Abraham Lincoln helped the USA stay together, so we don't have two countries. He also somewhat helped start the civil rights movement that helped free African Americans, so if Abraham Lincoln didn't become president, we would have two countries and slavery.
He is a hero because of his two heroic traits, compassion and perseverance because he helped stop slavery and helped the US stay one country. Abraham Lincoln is a great American hero, he ended slavery and also kept the USA as one. It is important that he did all that because he USA would be very different today, if he hadn't.
