My hero is my brother Alex. My brother is in 12th grade. He lives with me but will soon be going to college. He and our family moved here from Atlanta a few years ago. Since then he has always gone to SCDS.
My brother is pretty much a straight A student. He is in many school groups including yearbook and the Buzz. Over the summer he worked as an unpaid intern for South Magazine and wrote some articles for them. When he goes to college he will most likely major in journalism or international relations. He is almost fluent in Spanish and works very hard in school. The main reason I admire my brother is because of his successfulness, not only educationally but also financially. He has his own babysitting business that is all year and over the summer he started a recycling and pet sitting business too. He has always tried to keep our family green and encourages us to recycle, use energy efficient light bulbs, eat locally grown and chemical free vegetables and grass-fed meat. These are just some of his heroic traits.
Alex has some similarities and differences from what the ancient Greeks thought heroes were like. One similarity is that he is very good in the fine arts and is interested in government. I could go on and on in the differences, but I narrowed it down to three. One, he is not a child of a Greek god. Two, he is not a great war hero; in fact he opposes violence and weapons. Three, he is not an athletic hero or anything like that. But he is still my “overly smart”, judgmental, health conscious annoying older brother, and he is my hero.
