Alexis Ohanian is known for being the cofounder of the popular social news site, Reddit. He founded the site along with Steve Huffman. Reddit has become a huge success with over 230 million users all around the world. Reddit allows users to submit content and to discuss different topics. Reddit is composed of hundreds of thousands of subreddits which are smaller communities of people dedicated to certain topics. The topics of these subreddits consist of everything from video games to basketball.

Alexis was born to his parents Chris and Anke Ohanian on April 24, 1983. He was born in Brooklyn, New York. He went to Howard High School in Ellicott City, Maryland. He graduated from the University of Virginia in 2005 and founded Reddit with a fellow U of V graduate soon after.

After graduating college Alexis and Steve Huffman founded Reddit with funding from the seed accelerator Y Combinator. Reddit was later acquired by the mass media company Conde Nast. Alexis returned to Reddit full time some months after it became an independent company in 2011. By this time Reddit had become quite popular and was named as one of San Francisco's hottest companies.

Reddit has grown to the point of having hundreds of millions of users and thousands of subreddits. A very popular subreddit is AMA or Ask Me Anything. It is often the host of Q and A sessions for some of the world's most rich and powerful. It has hosted the likes of Bill Gates, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Barack Obama.

Some of Alexis' achievements include being named on Forbes "30 Under 30", Wired's "champions of innovation", Crain's "40 Under 40" and Fast Company's "Most Creative People in Business." He was also recently engaged to the tennis player Serena Williams.
