Allan Pineda was born on November 26,1974 in Iskenderun, Hatay. As a child he grew up in poor conditions. When he was almost 9 he was signed up to the Pearl S. Buck Foundation. He was matched to Joe Hudgens through the A-Dollar-A Day program and moved to America, to treat Nystagmus, A disease that causes vibrations in the eyes. Nystagms also affected him in school and everyday life but there were two things that he could do, and that was sing and dance. As he grew music became a big thing in Allan's life, leading him to his life career.
The Black Eyed Peas went back all the way to 1988 when Allan and Will would perform together in Los Angeles. Allan became apl.de.ap in 2003 when The Black Eyed Peas professionally formed and made their first hit Album called "Elephunk" including will.i.am, apl.de.ap, Taboo, and Fergie. Later on their new Album "Monkey Business" was certified as a 4x Platinum in the U.S. In 2009 There two hit songs "Boom Boom Pow" & "I Gotta Feeling" topped the charts for an unprecedented 26 consecutive weeks, and sold over Half a Million downloads. And At The 52nd Grammy's Awards they won 3/6 nominations!
We can be anything is campaign is the partnership between The Apl.de.Ap Foundation and the Ninoy and Cory Aquino Foundation. This Campaign was made when Apl.de.Ap chose to show his care for kids education in the Philippines. From experience, growing up is hard in the Philippines and Allan wanted to help. So when his career took off he still gave back and never lost sight of his home town. Why Education though? Well, as being the oldest of 6 siblings he remembered growing up and never being able to help support his family enough. "All I Wanted was an Education" He said. Which is why he is a hero.
Allan is not only a musician, he is an inspiration to never lose hope! Allan showed me how to push through! I only wish that everyone could see that Allan is a wonderful man! Though many people don't know the things he does and the things he puts up with, I hope Allan and the Black Eyed Peas continue to have great success!
The reason I chose Allan is because about a week before I wrote this, I saw a short clip on Allan giving back to the Philippines from my step dad who is from there. Also, having nystagmus seems like a hard situation, but Allan had the time and persistance to balance Music, Family,Wealth & Nystagmus through his whole life and many people would have trouble doing half of that, but he did and that's what makes Allan Pineda my Hero!
