Anwar Al Sadat

“There only can be hope only for a society which acts as one big family, not as many separate ones.”
This is a quote that Anwar el Sadat said. Anwar Al Sadat was a great man for this country Egypt. He saved millions of Egyptians, and what did he get in return? He was assassinated on the greatest day of his life but he also got the hearts and love of millions. One of those millions is me. I am here today to show all the people who differed with or don’t know Anwar El Sadat, that he is a great hero already to many but why all should think of him as a hero.

“Why aren’t you wearing your bullet proof vest, it is not safe?” Jihan inquired. “Why, who would want to kill me?” Anwar El Sadat replied.
This is what Anwar Sadat discussed with his wife before going out to the sixth of October celebration. He had trust in Egyptians that Egyptians wouldn’t hurt him, and once again his instinct was correct. It wasn’t the Egyptians who killed him but an Islamic fundamentalism group. He was put in a very tough, tense, position when he called truce to Israel. He knew if he didn’t call truce and attacked Israel, Israel would attack right back, not alone but with all of its allies too. On the other side he could call truce and save hundreds of thousands soldiers both Israeli and Egyptian but there is always bad side - he would get Egypt kicked out of the Arab league. Then he thought to himself and then he had made the most important and the biggest decision in all of his life. This is why people think Anwar Sadat stood out for his courage and bold diplomacy.

“Most people seek what they do not posses and are enslaved by the very things they want to acquire.”
This is another of many great quotes said by Anwar Sadat. Anwar Sadat accomplished many things during his presence on earth and all of those accomplishments had a big impact on Egypt. He had continued and finished Gamal abdel Nasser’s goal to get rid of the British presence in the Egyptian government. While he was working on this he got jailed many times, trying to get other countries to help him. In the end he succeeded. He also made the peace treaty, which had an effect on the world! He recovered the Sinai Peninsula from Israel.

“Peace is much more precious than a piece of land... let there be no more wars.”
This quote is Anwar Sadat’s dream, his life, his vision. All he wanted since he was near his teens was peace. He didn’t want anything else. People from all over the world want peace but it is so hard to understand why isn’t it existent. If there were to be peace no one would have problems. Everything solved just if some people bother to commit and say to themselves "I won’t fight." Anwar Sadat only asked for one thing his whole life and we can’t give this to him. After all he did for us, we just can’t make one commitment.

Being called a hero wasn’t one of Anwar Sadat’s goals. Yet it is one of mine to ensure that when people hear the words Anwar Sadat they know that he has earned his name to be recognized as a hero. So now you all know who Anwar Sadat is and why he is deserves to be a hero.
