Amelia Earhart

by Ruth from Wauwatosa

Amelia Earhart was a woman of great bravery and strength. She did what most people thought she couldn't. Amelia Earhart was born in Kansas. She started getting interested in flying when she was about 20 years old. A pilot took her up in a plane That would forever change her life. Amelia always wanted to defy the odds against women and even kept a scrapbook of women who had jobs in mainly male-oriented fields. One day, Amelia got a call that was asking if she wanted to be the first woman ever to fly the Atlantic. Amelia gladly agreed. The flight was a success. The plane left its port in 1928, making worldwide headlines. When Amelia turned 40, she wanted to fly one last challenge, being the first women ever to fly around the world.
