My hero is an awesome woman named Audrey Hepburn.  She was born on May 4, 1929.  She grew up in several European countries during WWII.  After the War, she became an accomplished actress and eventually a humanitarian.  I respect Audrey Hepburn for her generous work, caring for children in poverty around the world.

After Audrey Hepburn's career in movies, she became an ambassador to UNICEF.  UNICEF is the United Nations Children's Fund that provides food, healthcare and other resources to poor children in different parts of the world.  Audrey Hepburn worked as an ambassador to UNICEF because she grew up in several European countries during WWII.  She experienced hardships in her own childhood and wanted to help other children so they would not have to suffer.

In 1992, Audrey Hepburn was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom for her work as a UNICEF goodwill ambassador.  She was also nominated for and received many awards during her acting career.  Audrey Hepburn died from cancer at her home in Switzerland. She was 63 years old.
