Being a hero doesn't refer to the main character in a science fiction movie or in a bestseller thriller. What really makes a hero, are the good things that are given in order to create such a great impact on people's life, providing peace, values and positive thinking. A hero is a person who is admired for having done something very brave or having achieved something good.
I want to share with you a few facts that make me feel motivated each day of my life with the main purpose of reaching my own goals. For most of you this person may be unknown, but for me, I recall a whole life full of expectations and experiences. My grandmother is better known by all the grandchildren as "Mocita". She is a hard spirited woman, always determined to fight for what she wants.
Argelia Concepción Rivas de Prom was born in Mérida, Yucatán, México on March 01, 1930. But 48 years ago she settled in Tampico, Tamps. México and now this is her home.
Mocita, as did most other housewives, kept my mother's family together, she is always strong, patient and brave. She is always trying to follow new ways, to discover new things. She has never lost the passion for life. Even though hard times may come, or a storm that may be heading her way, she is always optimistic and never loses the smile on her face.
Mocita started playing tennis when she was 50, and at 74 years old she is still playing. She lives to play and I'm sure she will die on the court, doing what she likes most. Mocita wakes up at 6 a.m. and goes to the Regatas, or Raquet Club, to start practicing with "Cateto", her trainer for more than 40 years. Because of her love for tennis, she has involved the whole family in this great sport, giving us the chance to enjoy great times together as a family. She is a champion, she has received so many trophies, more precisely 80 of them. Maybe she is not the most famous person that you have ever known, but for me, she is one of the most incredible people that inspires me in my daily life to become THE BEST I CAN BE.
