He has played for several football clubs in West Java:

I chose him as my hero because he is handsome like me. (ha ha ha) And beside that, he is a good man. He always prays to God. And he plays very well. I respect him very much because he is my inspiration to be a football player and to be a good man.

On July 2007, all of Zaenal Arief fans was frightened with statement about Zaenal Arief. Zaenal Arief was informed that he was out from his training in ‘Timnas’ (National Team). The reason was that he was late from his traveling. Actually, he was just 2 hours late. But rules are rules. Zaenal Arief was informed that he couldn’t play for 6 months. Luckily, it has not happened. Now, he can play again for ‘Persib’. But, for the law, he can’t play for National Team. I believe that he made a simple mistake. And I know he is not a bad man. He is a good man. So good luck, Zaenel Arief.
