A hero is someone who is an idol and someone who you look up to. It is someone who fights for a cause, someone with courage, strength, and nobility. When you think of Bob Dylan (Robert Allen Zimmerman) do you think hero? Bob Dylan is a hero to me because, he is a skilled musician, a politically active individual and one of the greatest songwriters of our time.

Bob Dylan has been into music since he was very young. He began playing piano for his band and later became interested in guitar. When he was in college he started getting into folk music. He eventually dropped out of college to focus on his career. He later moved to Greenwich Village where he sought to become recognized. He got really good at playing the guitar, piano, and the harmonica. He even played the harmonica for Carolyn Hester,another famous folk singer, a few times as well.

Bob Dylan was well known for some his songs of protest. He sang about problems and times of hardship that were happening in the world at the time. One of his most famous songs was "Blowin' in the Wind"; it was a traditional slave song. The lyrics came into question with political and social status. Another one of his songs was "A Hard Rain's a-Gonna-Fall." It referred to a nuclear apocalypse. When the Cuban missile crisis happened only a few weeks after the release of that song it boosted Dylan's popularity.

Today Bob Dylan has won many awards for his excellent songwriting, persona, and music. He has won a Grammy, Golden Globe, and many academy awards. Dylan has also been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as well as the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame. He was part of the 100 Most Important People of the Century and was ranked number 2 in the Rolling Stones Greatest Artists of all Time. Dylan was also nominated several times for the Nobel Prize. Just recently Dylan was given the Pulitzer Prize Special Citation for his poetic power.

Bob Dylan is a hero for his poetic song lyrics and great songwriting. He has played so many places and has seen so many people. Dylan's music was inspiring to so many people. It would be no surprise if he was someone else's hero as well.
