Bill Eswine

My Dad

My hero is Bill Eswine. He is my dad. I am his second child. My dad lives with my mom and me. We live in Savannah, Georgia. Our home is great. I love my dad very much. He is a science teacher at Savannah Country Day. He loves his job very much. I think he is a great choice for a modern day hero.

My dad is a great hero. He is a good hero because he is brave. Once when I was little I went fishing with him. We were in Florida. I looked over the side of the boat. I saw this little shell floating in the water. I had to have it so I reached over the side of the boat. It was a small boat so I thought it would be easy to grab the shell. I was about to grab it when I lost my balance and almost fell in. But luckily my dad grabbed me just in time. He did not even panic. I am very glad that he is brave. He also has a lot of compassion for his work. He has now been teaching at Savannah Country Day for over twenty-five years. If that is not compassion, then I don’t know what compassion is.

My dad is and is not like the Greek heroes in many ways. My dad does not boast about something after he has done a good job like all of the Greek heroes did. But on the other hand, he has a lot of courage like most of the heroes did. He does not battle giant monsters like they did. I think my dad is more like a modern day hero than one of the old Greek heroes.
