| My Brother Ben (property of me) |
Have you ever met a person who is a hard worker, lifesaver, trustworthy, and is always determined to get anything done that he starts? This is a person who is all that, he’s my brother Benjamin Fast Finch. In Utah Salt Lake Benjamin was born, raised in Spanish Fork, in 2001 his family left from Spanish Fork, Utah and drove up to Cordova, Alaska. Ben entered this world in the year of 1990 and grew up to be an awesome person.
Ben is a person that everybody can look up to. He never lies to anyone, he always obeys his parents when they ask him to do something or be home at the right time, Ben doesn’t brag about how good or cool he is at something, Ben had saved me from dying more than three times. Once in Spanish Fork, Utah, Ben, my Dad and I were heading home and I was leaning on the inside of the car door. My dad was driving really fast down the highway and while I was leaning on the door it opened up somehow. I was falling out of the car; my brother quickly grabbed me by the shirt before realizing anything. But then Ben started to fall out as well. My dad grabbed Ben and stopped the car. We buckled in and went home slowly. If it hadn’t been for Ben I wouldn’t be here right now writing this paper.
There was another time that my brother had saved me. My brother and I were at the lake with a lot of people everywhere. While Ben was on the beach and I was in the shallow water I walked off a drop off in the water. I was only 7 and I could only doggy paddle (but not very good). When I walked off, my first reaction was to scream but the only thing that happened was that my lungs were filled with water and I started to panic. My brother was the only one that realized that I wasn’t in the in the shallow water anymore, and saw the splashing that I had caused and he quickly swam out, grabbed me and pulled me to shore. Ben had saved my life. I would have died of drowning if it wasn’t for my brother Ben who had paid close attention and knew that I was drowning the instant he saw me out of the shallow water.
Ben is a really clever person, he has fixed up 2 broken T.V., 3 VCRs, 2 play station2’s, a Nintendo 64, and a lot of game controllers. Ben grabbed a broken T.V. out of the trash and started to work on it. Ben finally got it to work, then fixed a broken play station2, a Nintendo 64 and some controllers. This is a way that me and my brothers hang out, we put on tournaments on Nintendo 64 and play station2, but Ben usually beats us but it is really fun still, because Ben never complains if we team up or we just go for him, and that is why I like playing with Ben. He isn’t a big old poor sport.
Ben is really good with his hands. He loves to carve things out of wood. Ben makes my little brother's wooden swords, staffs, and bows. And usually when he makes them he puts shiny stones and cool marks on them that make them look really cool. My little brothers loves the talent Ben has with wood and I do too, because it is a talent where Ben makes things for other people and not just for himself.
Ben’s selfless putting his own life in front of the danger of other people like one this one time. A dog was about to attack my little brother but Ben jumped in front to protect him, even though the dog could have bitten him or hurt him really bad. But Ben knew that my little brother could have gotten hurt and Ben didn’t want that to happen. So Ben was willing to step in front of the dog and my little brother and get the dog away.
Ben is also a really humble person; he just doesn’t go around bragging about things he is really good at. Instead he shows it in a different way. He shows it by doing it: he gets good grades, good drama, good basketball. He shows people he is good at things by doing them but he doesn’t go around bragging about it.
Ben is trustworthy. He never goes around lying. He tells the truth all of the time and that shows a really good example to his siblings to never lie also. Ben is really friendly, he has a whole bunch of friends and his friends say that Ben is a really good friend and a friend that they can trust.
Ben is also determined. Last school year Ben played basketball but he didn’t get to play much. So that summer Ben ran a lot, he shot more than 10 thousand shots, he made his vertical high. This year Ben did really awesome. He helped the team win a few games, got a lot of shots in and rebounds. If it hadn’t been for Ben’s determination to get good, he might not have done as good in his last basketball season.
I chose Ben to be my hero because I strongly look up to Ben and Ben can help me to become a better person in life. Ben had a lot of good things about him and I want other people to see that Ben is a great person who worked hard to get things done. He protected other people even if it meant that Ben would have to get hurt in the process. Ben is a kind and loving person. He always has time to hang out with his family. If he doesn’t, he then tries to make up the time that he missed hanging out with us. I love my brother for all he does for other people, his friends, and especially his family that he is very grateful for. And that is why I chose Ben to be my hero.
