Bill Gates

Back then in the 1900's a hero was someone who had a gun or had super powers. But now it could be anyone, even a genius who created an award winning software and is one of the richest man alive . Bill Gates is the man who created Microsoft and many foundations all over the world. Bill Gates is a hero because he has been a role model for people around him  by his selfless actions and determination in life. He is the founder of Microsoft, a software that is  being used by range of people from students to professional software developers. Despite the software making him the wealthiest  man, Bill Gates did not turn out to be selfish. Instead he turned out to be a hero through the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, a foundation that focused on health and education for individuals, and schools that are in need of financial assistance.

Bill Gates had an interest in technology during his school life, Bill was approached to write programs for commercial companies. In 1976, Microsoft a great operating system was born and registered. Bill's interest in technology led him to develop range of products offered by Microsoft. Microsoft established a world class status and proved to be a very successful product.

Bill was inspired by the invention of the computer, but the problem with that was that the computer had to be in one giant room. Bill decided to create a computer small enough to fit in a house. Bill Gates shows determination because the text states, "He crawled through trashcans to retrieve old programmer's notes." (Bill Gates). This quote shows that Bill Gates was determined to do anything, even swim through garbage to find some notes. He also shows selflessness because the article states, "Since 1994, when he and his wife started the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, they have given away $30.2 billion - around 37 per cent of their net worth - most of it on global health initiatives. Most of this money comes from their highly profiting company." (Lewis 2015).  This piece of evidence explains that not only did he use the money from his company for himself, but he also used the money to create a foundation to help great causes around the world. Based upon this evidence, he proved that he can show determination and selflessness.

The effects on Bill Gates' actions are that his award winning company, Microsoft has created many new technologies to help the world. Now people in work can do their job faster than ever before. Bill Gates worked hard his entire life in creating his company, Microsoft. Although he could have spend his hard earned money in a variety of ways, he choose to give large portions of his wealth for the betterment of education. Bill Gates set an example to be great by distribution of his funds.

Based upon these facts, I believe that Bill Gates is a hero. He has been an great entrepreneur, inventor, investor, business magnet, and above all he had great determination and was selfless. Bill Gates has chosen to give beyond himself for greater causes. He has not only focused on problems in the schools and communities around him, but has taken actions to better the education and livelihood of individuals around the world. Above all, the Gates goal of giving away 99% of their wealth to charity shows the love and care they have for people, and makes him a great HERO.
