Barack Obama is a hero for many reasons. But the main reason for him being a hero is the fact that he is the first African American president.

For the past forty-four years all of our presidents have been white. And black people had to fight for freedom and rights.

Obama was born in Hawaii on the fourth of August in 1961. He was raised by his mom, Ann Dunham, because when he was only two his mom and dad divorced. His dad later remarried and so did his mom.

Later in his life, he served as the Junior United States Senator from Illinois. He was Senator from January 2005 till he resigned in 2008.

When Obama was elected in 2008 and became president is when he became my hero. He proved that no matter your race you can be as smart, important, and as famous as any other person. He proved that by being the first African-American president.
