A real hero is somebody who tries to help others and who tries to do what is best for others. My hero is Barack Obama.

Barack Obama was born in 1961 in Honolulu, Hawaii. He served three terms in the Illinois Senate from 1997 to 2004. After that, he ran for and won the election to the United States Senate that same year. Then, he started campaigning to become President of the United States in February of 2007. He won his party’s nomination against Hillary Clinton in 2008. He won the election and was inaugurated on January 20, 2009. He was the first African-American President ever! He was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize on October 9, 2009.

Barack Obama has a lot of faith in the United States. He thinks it can be a better country. He gives speeches all over the world telling people that the U.S. is trying to end the war. He is also trying to improve the economy by giving out money to businesses so they can hire more employees and more people can have jobs. He never gives up as his slogan is, “Yes we can!”

Barack Obama is my hero. I think he is helping the United States become a place where people would want to be. I think it was really hard for him to become President of the U.S. because of his skin color, but he never gave up. Barack Obama is a great leader.
