A hero is maybe someone who can fly, is very strong, or saves people’s lives, but to me it’s different. A hero is someone who can protect you, someone who takes care of you and always makes sure you’re okay, someone who has a very strong heart. I see my hero everyday -she is my mom.
Growing up, my mom lived with four brothers and five sisters. Ten kids in a small house with one bathroom doesn’t sound great to me, but she loved her childhood. Her brothers and sisters are her best friends, and she loves every one of them… well, I can’t say they’re her best friends, but I like to say that. Knowing if she didn’t have a big family, her heart wouldn’t be as big as it is today.
My mom (Bea) didn’t have the opportunities I have today. My mom always encourages me to do more and be the best I can be. When I was five I started piano. When I was nine, I begged and begged to play the flute. (It worked). My mom believes that if I try hard, my flute and I can go a long way. Having someone who supports you and the things you love is a hero. I always know my mom will support me and all the decisions I will make later in life. It’s hard doing things by yourself, so having someone beside you on the way is a great help.
In some ways moms are like Super Heroes. Have you ever noticed that moms never get sick? How they always make you feel better? How they're able to have a job and take care of five other people at the same time?
My mom is a Super Hero. Someone I look up to and someone I love. She can’t fly and she can't lift extremely heavy things but she does her best to take care of me and makes sure I always have everything I need. Someone who supports me and loves me.
My hero. My mom.
