"I want adventure in the great wide somewhere. I want it more than I can tell. And for once it might be grand, to have someone understand... I want so much more than they've got planned. "
Beauty and the Beast, a epic love story known by everyone. From this story the heroine Belle emerges with a persona that inspires.
As the story goes, Belle is considered the most beautiful girl in her village, but regarded as the strangest too. Many see her as strange because of her love for books and her desire to go on adventures. She chooses to be on her own, preferring to let her imagination wander on her imaginary adventures. Despite the fact that the villagers gossip about her, and her estranged father who is a inventor, she doesn't mind them and goes about her daily duties.
Belle is also known to be a very intellectual woman. At her time she may be seen as a non-conformist, because of her desire for knowledge. Being the only woman who speaks her mind, many of the villagers at her time strongly believe that women shouldn't think because they will get strange ideas. This still doesn't prevent Belle from being herself and pursuing her dreams. Belle also does not care about appearances, whether it refers to her or someone else. This I believe is very ironic because she is known to be the most beautiful girl in the village, but she still sees past appearances and looks at one's personality.
Throughout the story Belle learns to accept the Beast for who he is, not the Beast that one would be terrified of. This is truly her defining trait, loving someone for who they are, not how they appear. I believe that Belle truly fits the characteristics of a Romanticist. She has all the traits a Romanticist has: a non-conformist and a free thinker. By being true to herself and having a compassionate heart, Belle is a heroine who truly found her prince charming.
