Family Members
Elizabeth Blackwell was born on Febuary 3, 1821, in Bristol, England. Elizabeth Blackwell had four brothers and 4 sisters, I only know three. They were Anna, Mariah and Sara. Her brothers were George, Henry and Samuel C. Also her mother and her father, Samuel Blackwell and Elizabeth, didn't have much family - just her mother, father and her brothers and sisters.
Childhood Experiences
At a girl's young age, all they learned were house chores and to get married. But Elizabeth's father thought differently. He thought that the girls should have the same education as the boys. When Elizabeth was 11, she and her family shipped out to New York City. Elizabeth had all the same subjects as the boys. She never gave up. She was a hard worker. When she was ready for college she applied to many of the colleges. Before she went to college she always would go to a teacher's house to train. Elizabeth finally made it into a college called Geneva Medical College. Elizabeth suprised everybody and graduated from Geneva Medical College in 1849.
Educational Experience
Her first job was a private tutor. Elizabeth went to Henderson, Kentucky as a teacher and then to North and South Carolina where she taught school and read medicine privately.

In 1849, Elizabeth Blackwell was the first woman to graduate from medical school. Elizabeth, during her career, published a lot of books: 1871, The religion of health;1878, counsel to parents on the moral Education of their children; 1884, The human element in sex; 1895, Pioneer work in opening the medical profession to women; 1902, Essays in medical sociology. After she finished college, she opened a hospital of her own where she and her sister worked.
Elizabeth's Death
Elizabeth Blackwell, after retiring and recovering from a serious fall down the stairs, died in 1910.
My opinion of my subject
In my opinion, it was really interesting because just think - if Elizabeth never graduated and became a doctor no other girl would have had the guts to do the same as Elizabeth and if Eelizabeth didn't do it then there probably wouldn't be a girl doctor today. So Elizabeth accomplished her dreams and finished her life with pride.
