Brandon

This is me and my cousin
This is me and my cousin

Most heroes we see nowadays have; inspired, touched, or helped us in some way shape or form. A Hero doesn't always have to be fictional or realistic; my hero in this case would be my friend/cousin Brandon. Brandon's been there for me for a while now, he's my cousin's friend but he's been around so much I can't help but consider him my cousin. Brandon is 14 years old, yes my hero is younger than me, but that's not odd; heroes don't have a specific age. Brandon inspires me; he's courageous, he's got a lot of friends who support him, but there are people out there that don't know he goes through life, dealing with bullying from people who don't accept people who are; LGBTQIA, GLBT or GLBT. Whichever way you put it, it means the same thing: EQUAL. Brandon is in the category Gay, for some it's known as Homosexual.

This doesn't make him any different than any of us; he has a heart, he bleeds, he feels pain just as much as you or I do. Brandon has filled the spot as my hero because even with only being in high school and being fourteen he knows a lot about life, that most 14 year olds could care less about. He's not afraid to be who he is, this is not to offend anybody in the categories; lesbian, gay, bisexual, transsexual, transgender, questioning, intersex, ally or asexual. But he does put on make-up, he wears girl boots, he's not overly expressive of being Gay, but you know he's gay, he'll let you know; actually he doesn't have to let you know, but he is. Brandon's been in my life for about, 2 years but he's still part of my family, when I hear people openly talk about how anybody in the categories I previously named, are going to Hell, or will never be happy, it kind of makes my heart sink. I'm bisexual and I'm proud to be who I am, going through everyday life, while getting made fun of, smirked at, laughed at or singled out, has made me, him, and EVERYBODY for that matter, who we are today.

He has taught me something that has been with me since we met, if they can't take you for who you are, then they don't deserve to be a part of your life, His father doesn't  know about him being gay, but he still goes through everyday life, hanging with girls, wearing girl accessories (clothes, shoes, make-up.. etc.) he knows i love him with everything i have, because he is family, i trust him with my life. .

He is part of the reason for who i am today. I could never thank him enough, he's got a good heart, he's courageous for going to school and being open about his sexuality, he's smart, skilled, he's talented. He's a good singer and dancer, it's just nobody wants to take the time to get to know him and realize that he's a good guy.. which saddens me, but there is one thing i know, and its that he is my best friend and no matter what anybody says about him, to me or too anybody i will never leave his side.. He's the Peanut Butter to My Jelly, we can't be separated.
