Inventor, architect, designer, engineer, futurist and writer, Richard Buckminster "Bucky" Fuller popularized the geodesic dome in architecture.
Fuller's path was a famously winding one. In his early 30's, after bankruptcy and the death of his daughter, Fuller fell into a deep depression during which he often contemplated suicide. Instead, he re-invented himself and led his life as if it were "an experiment, to find what a single individual [could] contribute to changing the world and benefiting all humanity." He went on to become an enormously influential inventor and designer, particularly in the fields of low-cost, practical housing and transportation.
