Clara Barton

by Nicole from Athony

MY hero's name is Clara Barton. She was a lifesaving nurse that started Red Cross at the age 83. She was a teacher for 16 years then she became a nurse and she was the first nurse that started the Red Cross. Clara Barton was born on December 25, 1821. She was also a president of the Red Cross when the Civil War was going on.

Clara Barton helped to nurse solders in the army. She also was a great teacher but when she was a nurse she delivered weapons to the solders in the war so they would win. She was one of the first nurses to be there.

Clara Barton is a world changer because she started Red Cross and saved many lives including army soldiers that came back from war. That was really important because if she didn't, lives would be lost. Also it was very important that she start the Red Cross because if she didn't, people would not get prosthetic limbs, they would have to go all the way to the hospital and they would not make it. So that is my story about Clara Barton and I hope you liked it.
