Charles Spencer Chaplin

Charles Spencer Chaplin was born in London, England, on April 16th 1889. Charlie was thrown on his own before he reached the age of ten. He never gave up even as a kid. His dad died at a very young age.

One of his best movies, City Lights, took him two years to make. Before City Lights was done, the sound film was firmly established. Charlie stayed true and still made it a silent Film. This was a big challenge for him and other silent stars to stay with silent films. It took them 190 Days of actual shooting. At the premieres one of the guests was Albert Einstein.

He won his first Oscar in 1929. Charlie was married four times and had 11 kids between 1919 and 1962. His first wife was Mildred Harris. They got married in October 23, 1918 and Divorced on April 4, 1921. His second wife Lita Grey they were married in November 26, 1924 and divorced on August 25, 1927. He had two more wives after that Paulette Goddard and Oona O’Neill.

Charlie died in Switzerland at the age of 88 in December 1977. Charlie is my hero because he gave us Joy when we were at war. He helps us forget about everything bad in the world. When I grow up I hope I have a big impact like Charlie Chaplin.
