A hero is he who is admired for courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities. My hero would be someone who fought for others' rights and fought to improve the lives for all people. It would also be a person who wasn't wealthy, they worked hard for what they wanted but most of all were humble. They sacrificed and did a lot to do what they wanted to do. They help others in many ways, they were thoughtful, and caring. He indeed went through struggles but he got right back up and always did what was right and put effort into all they did. Generally speaking, Cesar Chavez is my hero because of all the things considered.

All he did was selfless, but that's not the only quality he has that makes him a hero. He was born in Yuma, Arizona, his family owned a grocery store and a ranch but they lost all they had during the Great Depression, after his family lost everything they moved to California to work as farmers, but Chavez noticed the injustice farmers went through so he made a difference to the lives of all farmers. He was a civil rights activist, labor leader, farm worker, but most of all he was a peacemaker. His credence in non-violence led him to a succession in peacemaking. Because of Cesar Chavez farm workers' rights were issued, he himself was a farm worker as well, the strikes, boycotts, fasting, all his commitment was great help to their rights. He did not only help his Latino race but he also helped all races. Chavez not only fought for all human rights, but for animals too. He didn't do this all himself he indeed had a co-worker, Dolores Huerta. He had this saying "Si, se puede" which as you can tell he was encouraging and optimistic.

Indeed, Chavez dedicated his life to making the world a better place, but he also had his family of his own. He married Helen Fabela in 1948, and they had 8 kids and settled in Delano. He taught his kids the same concept his parents taught him as a kid, he was taught the importance of hard work, education, and respect. I truly believe those are three main concepts in life we need to always remember. His parents, Juana Estrada Chavez and Librado Chavez both taught him very significant morals. Chavez's great influence was his mother she taught him to always lead a non-violent life and he did that's how he was influenced to being a peacemaker. Mr. Chavez taught him that importance of education and religion. All in all Chavez had great influences as kid and he also influenced that to his own kids.

I chose Cesar Chavez as my hero not just because he did great things, because what he has done has influenced many and has changed the life of all. I can relate Cesar Chavez to a man who has seen me grow and has taught me those same concepts of life a man that is caring sacrifices what he can for his family, my father. It's crazy to believe that someone actually fasted did great scarifies so that his union would continue and that violence would not be a choice. He and the union sought recognition of the importance and dignity of all farm workers. In 1962 Chavez found the United Farm Workers Association (UFW) they designed a flag that had colors red and black, symbols are significant like the Aztec eagle, symbolizes dignity and gives pride.

On April 23, 1993 the great hero passes on to a better life, the life he had always lived just better. He will always be remembered as man of courage who fought to improve the lives of all people. Thanks to President Obama, the day of Cesar Chavez was approved on March 31 so now in California it's a state holiday. His legacy will always remain in the hearts of all Californians. If everyone had a bit of the heart he had, maybe this nation would be amicable. And always remember "Si, se puede."
