Cassandra Clare, the author of the New York Times Bestseller List series, The Mortal Instruments, is my hero. Cassandra Clare is an awe-inspiring author, whose books have beguiled the world over. She expresses herself in her writing, creating a world I would love to live in, myself. It's a series with a plot that you can't map out immediately. She adds twists and turns you never expect. She gives her characters life and a specific personality unto themselves. No one is who they seem.

Cassandra Clare lives in western Massachusetts with her betrothed, their cats, and her collection of books. She grew up traveling the world, having been born overseas, with her parents and a few trunks full of books. She's always writing, working on the end of the Mortal Instruments series and the beginning of the Infernal Devices. It's an understatement to say her series is reminiscent of Harry Potter. It is the NEW Harry Potter.
Cassandra Clare inspired me to be a writer. Whenever I get frustrated with myself, something I'm writing, or the stupidity of something I'm reading, I think about how long it takes to create a good book. How long it must have taken her to create the world in which Clary, Jace, Isabelle, Alec, Max (deceased), Simon, and the rest of the Shadowhunters and Downworlers reside within. I'm working on a story of my own, a book about who I wish I was and what I could become. Some things I write I know can never be true, like changing my lineage to add a twin for myself. Some other things, though, I know that if I applied myself to the arduous task, I can change in my life. I could major in sports medicine and English, with a minor in ancient history. I can do anything.
Cassandra Clare pushes me to do my best. Other authors inspire me, (ex. Rick Riordan, Ally Carter, Tera Lynn Childs, etc.), but she is the only one who truly pushes me farther into the depths of my writing. I can feel myself growing the more I write. I learn new, exquisite words to liven up my writing from good to better. I learn to be my writing, not to just watch from the sidelines. One I hope to be as good as Cassandra Clare. It's a fool's dream, but maybe, one day, I will get there.
