"For me, singing was the real life, not two plus two equals four." Celine Dion believes in singing can do much more than entertaining people. Celine Dion is a Canadian singer born on March 30, 1968. She was born in Charlemagne, a small town in Quebec, Canada. A hero must possess generosity and the time to care. When a hero is generous, that person will not hesitate to help anybody out because they know that there life isn't as suffering as other people and helping them would be the least that they could do. When a hero gives the time to care, they will use some of their time to help out people or anybody for a good cause.  Celine Dion possesses generosity and compassion.

Celine Dion only believed in what she loves and she will for what she can to get there. Celine Dion wanted to be more serious in her music and recorded a song written by her mother. Her family then sent that recording to a manager they found out about named Rene Angelil. " "You couldn't believe the voice for a 12-year-old." Angelil also admits "I had goose bumps listening to that voice, so full of feeling, and older than her years." Her singing moved him so much, in fact, that it brought tears to his eyes. Her voice was beautiful and strong enough to inspire others." Celine Dion can inspire people to achieve their dreams if they work hard enough. Her family supported her a lot. After a couple of weeks, the manager still didn't respond. Her brother called the manager and told him that he obviously hasn't listened to the track because if he did, he would've called back. When Angelil did listen to it, he was shocked. He couldn't believe it and asked her to sing to him in person. While Dion was working her way up to  being more successful she had to go through a lot of rejections. "Although Angelil believed in Dion's talent, he soon discovered that the rest of the recording industry wasn't interested. He couldn't convince any of the major labels to allow this 12-year-old singer to make a recording. So he mortgaged his house to finance the project himself. Her very first single became a No. During the next six years, Dion made a series of French records and became a huge hit in Quebec, selling some $10 million in albums there and in Europe. By 1987, Angelil had convinced a major label of Dion's talent. Sony Music released Incognito, her ninth French-language album. The recording soon went double platinum, selling 2 million copies. That same year, she appeared at the Juno Awards, the Canadian version of the Grammy Awards. That night, she sang a song in English. Here, an executive from the music industry talks about that night. "We'd heard her sing in French, but we were a bunch of Anglos, right? We kind of went, yeah, nice, but I don't get the words. And then she came out at the Juno Awards that year and did this song by Aldo Nova called "Just Have a Heart" and blew everybody away. There was not a piece of flesh in the audience that did not have goose bumps on it." "The beginning of Dion's career seemed tough but she hasn't gave up. Angelil has enough confidence in Dion's voice that he used his own money for her to reach her dream. In conclusion, Dion's success took time, but she was patient about it.

Dion had so much determination and commitment of becoming a more known singer. After Dion achieved her dream, she wanted to push her limits. She wanted to sing American songs as well as her French songs. To achieve this goal she had to be brave enough to go through a huge process of change to change her approach to music. "She cut her hair, had her teeth fixed, updated her makeup, and changed her wardrobe to feature more tight, sexy, sophisticated clothes. She also decided that she wanted to learn English to increase the size of her audience and to increase her chances of becoming a star. Before that time she had learned a few songs in English phonetically, without really understanding the meaning of all the words. So Dion took an intensive Berlitz course to learn English, practicing every day from 9:00 in the morning until 5:00 at night for several months." Dion wanted to extend her ability of singing and made a big decision to become an American singer as well. You could tell how committed she was by her decision of having a makeover and learning a new language as well as singing it. Dion is also brave because she changed almost her whole look and had to fix her teeth which must be painful. While Dion became successful and enjoyed her accomplishment, she suddenly lost her voice. It must be a very scary thing to lose her voice, yet she had hope and stayed positive.  "She has also been relentless in taking care of her voice. At one point in 1990 she lost her voice completely, and her doctor advised her to remain silent for three weeks. She complied perfectly--she didn't say a word the entire time. Since then, she has been extremely careful. She tries not to speak on the day of a performance, always travels with two humidifiers, does vocal exercises every day, and abstains from alcohol and tobacco. She has been willing to do whatever it takes to be a star. According to Angelil, "When Celine stopped singing for the sheer joy of it in the car, in the plane, wherever she was, I knew she had what counted to be a star." For Dion, now a best-selling, superstar singer, all her hard work and determination have paid off." Most people would panic too much if something important to them became lost. They would focus too much on the negative side instead of staying positive and calm as Celine would. Dion had strength and believed she will not lose her dream. She was brave and did whatever it took to keep her voice. She has learned from her experience and knows how to take care of her gift. As you can see, Celine Dion is a committed, talented singer who works hard to accomplish her goal.

Dion became involved in UNICEF and Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in Canada. "The one thing that she does make time for is the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in Canada. Dion has been promoting public awareness of CF since 1982, and Dion became the group's national Celebrity Patron in 1993. Cystic fibrosis is a genetic disorder that affects breathing and digestion. Her niece, Karine, died of the disease when she was 16." Dion has lost a loved one through cystic fibrosis and understands what it must feel like for anyone who has lost someone to this disease . Dion supports this foundation and uses her fame to advantage. A lot of money is donated because Celine Dion supports this foundation. Celine is committed to many good causes. She is the National Celebrity Patron for Cystic Fibrosis Canada and has also established the Celine Dion Foundation.
