Chris Farley

by Brandon from Horicon, Wisconsin

Chris Farley was a funny man who made everyone laugh. Some movies he did were Black Sheep, Beverly Hills Ninja, Tommy Boy, and Saturday Night Live. My favorite quote is a quote from the movie Tommy Boy when David Spade asks for his John Hancock and he says “John Hancock, it's Herbie Hancock.” Every time I hear that quote it makes me laugh. But it also make me sad to think what would have happened if he hadn’t died. Chris Farley is a hero because many people liked him and many people were inspired by him.

He was born Christopher Crosby Farley on February 18, 1964 in Madison, Wisconsin. His parents were Mary Anne and Thomas Farley. He had two brothers Kevin and John Farley. He also had a sister Barbara. He grew up in Madison, Wisconsin, where he attended school. He later went on to receive post high school education at Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He graduated from Marquette with a degree in Communications.

Chris Farley lived from February 15, 1964 to December 18, 1997. My hero lived 33 years before dying in Chicago due to drug overdose. He starred in many movies and even did a five year stint on Saturday Night Live. He was known as a loveable funny man, but he struggled with addiction. For the later years of his life he was addicted to drugs and alcohol. These addictions eventually led to his death. When I think about him I don’t think of him for these qualities. I think of his funny aspects.

Why is Chris Farley a hero to me? Well for one reason he made people laugh. I also think he contributed to the type of comedy we have now. He also started out as an amateur in a Chicago comedy club and rose to be one of the funniest people of the decade. He grew up idolizing other comedians like John Belushi, Dan Akroyd and Bill Murray - all people who were very funny people. These actors inspired him from a young age. He also wanted to make people laugh, so he went into comedy.

After 33 years, a tragic death and many funny movies, he is part of a group of young inspiring comedians whose death ended a rising career. Of all his movies he starred in, my favorite movie was, “Tommy Boy”. He, like many others, has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. To be on the walk of fame you have to do something good or be good at something. To me he was the funniest actor of all time.
