"But real life doesn't travel in a perfect straight line; it doesn't necessarily have that all lived happily ever after' bit. You have to work on where you're going." (Chris Kyle Qoutes) Chris Kyle, also known as "American Sniper", knew life wasn't just handed to you, if you really want to achieve your goal you must put in the time and effort.  "Kyle was born in Odessa, Texas, in 1974, son of a church deacon and a Sunday school teacher."(Chris Kyle)  Odessa, Texas was Chris Kyle's home town where he was raised by his mom and dad who taught him about his religion, Christianity.  Growing up he learned family was very important as well as being involved in the religious community.  Chris's dad was the person who first taught him to use a gun, they would go on hunting trips together.  He learned that he had a gift in using guns.  The gift of handling guns included having a very good eye and shot.  When Chris Kyle grew older he applied to join the military and after being declined twice, a recruiter offered him a job to train to be a sniper.  "As Iraq opposition to U.S. occupation grew, Kyle's skills as a sniper became a valuable asset to the SEALs, as he could make shots from great distances.  His longest shot came in 2008 near Sadr City, when with a 2,100-yard shot--more than a mile--Kyle took out a man aiming a rocket launcher at a U.S. Army convoy." (Chris Kyle)  Chris Kyle is now known for being the greatest Sniper there has been in the U.S. army.  Chris was deployed in many different places but had most success in the war in Iraq. "Chris Kyle was killed on February 2, 2013, by Eddie Ray Routh, a deeply disturbed Marine who was one of the veterans Kyle had dedicated himself to helping." (Alexander Nazaryan)  After finally getting back from a deployment to his wife and two kids, whom he loved dearly, Chris Kyle was volunteering his time to help Eddie Ray recover from PTSD.  A horrific event occurred at this recovery cite, Chris Kyle was shot by Eddie Ray.  A hero is someone who inspires many different people to be like them or to follow what they do in life.  A hero could also be someone who has saved people physically or mentally.  A hero is selfless, very courageous and determined to do what is right or do what they enjoy doing in life.  Chris Kyle is a hero because he inspires people to be selfless, courageous, and determined towards what they know is right for them in life, just like he was.

Chris Kyle showed many acts of selflessness throughout his life and he thought about many other people and didn't just think about himself.  Chris Kyle volunteered his time to help people with other problems because he was selfless and didn't take all of his time to spend thinking about himself.  "On Feb. 2, 2013, former Navy SEAL Chris Kyle was killed at a shooting range near Chalk Mountain, Texas, while attempting to help fellow veteran Eddie Ray Routh." (Duckworth).  Chris Kyle was trying to help veteran Eddie Ray Routh, who had post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), after getting back from a war zone and ended up shooting him. Chris Kyle was not selfish and used his time to help people in need.  Chris Kyle died trying to help someone, this shows how selfless he was.  Chris Kyle was selfless in volunteering his time to help other people.  He also showed this selflessness because he spent his life dedicating his time into helping others overcome struggles.  "As Iraq opposition to U.S. occupation grew, Kyle's skills as a sniper became a valuable asset to the SEALs, as he could make shots from great distances." (Biography in Context)  Chris Kyle is selfless because he went to Iraq to fight in a war to defend his country.  While at war he would be in life-threatening situations, such as being held at gun point by an enemy in Iraq.  Thus risking his life for hundreds of other lives and to help our country.  He would have to make shots from great distances to save many people.  "In Ramadi, the site of one of the war's deadliest battles, Kyle killed so many fighters that Al-Qaeda insurgents began to target him specifically.  They eventually placed a bounty on his head--reports range from $20,000 to $80,000--and nicknamed him the Devil of Ramadi.  For Kyle's valor in this and other battles, he was awarded two Silver Stars and five Bronze Medals." (Biography in Context)  Chris Kyle is selfless because he has put his life on the line to fight for his country and protect American troops who were also fighting.  He has risked his life many times for other people.  Chris Kyle was an extremely selfless man and thought about many other people, he helped many people in his own time and even what he did for a living showed him helping many other people.

Chris Kyle was very courageous and brave, he went into many deathly situations but he went in knowing he was doing this for a good cause.  He showed he was courageous because he joined the Navy, risking his life everyday to help thousands of people and protect our country.  "After his second attempt to join the Navy, a recruiter contacted him and asked if he wanted to train to become a SEAL.  Kyle enthusiastically agreed." (Biography in Context)  Chris Kyle is very courageous because he had attempted to join the Navy, not once, but twice.  Joining the Navy is very dangerous and takes a lot of courage, when he was offered to train to be a SEAL he happily accepted to train and then fight for his life and his country in the war.  Chris Kyle risked his life and went into many fights that took courage and for his job in the Navy he had the courage to do many things other people wouldn't.  "Kyle sees this woman remove a grenade from beneath her dress and hand it to her child.  He shoots the child, and when the woman wails and picks up the grenade shoots her as well.  He visually shows guilt, blinking, sniffling, and refusing the congratulations of his fellow sailor." (Duckworth)  Chris Kyle had the courage to first go to war but he also had the courage to shoot someone to protect American troops.  Most of the time shooting someone is bad, but each person he shot he would save hundreds of Americans that were fighting in the war.  Chris Kyle was very courageous as he went into many deathly situations to fight for someones life and protect fellow Americans.

"In 2012 Kyle published his autobiography, American Sniper: The Autobiography of the Most Lethal Sniper in U.S. Military History. 'After the first kill, the others come easy,' the New York Post quoted from the book. 'I don't have to psych myself up, or do anything mentally--I look through the scope, get the target in the cross hairs and kill my enemy before he kills one of my people."' (Chris Kyle)  Kyle was so determined to do his job he didn't have pump himself up or anything.  He knew that what he was doing was for a good reason and he was determined to do a great job at what he did.  "But it was also a difficult one, he recalls. 'You lay in the same place for days,' watching for enemy movements. Kyle would go for weeks without showering or changing. 'Out in the elements the whole time,' he recalls. 'You just get fatigued."'(Alexander Nazaryan)  Chris Kyle was very determined, so determined that he would stay in the same place or position for days to get the certain shot he wanted.  For weeks he would watch people to see if they were up to anything.  Chris Kyle was determined to always finish the job, the fight, or any opportunity he had to make an impact on helping people and doing what is right.

"Marines-you beat them down and they come back for more." (Chris Kyle Quotes)  Kyle has been a great  example at someone who gets up when they have been knocked down.  Chris Kyle has done this many times, at war he would see disturbing things that messed with his emotions and his psyche, but he got up and fought for his country.  "'I don't care how much money you get,' my dad used to tell me. 'It's not worth it if you're not happy.' That's the most valuable piece of advice he ever gave me: Do what you want in life.  To this day I've tried to follow that philosophy."(Chris Kyle Quotes)  Chris Kyle inspires me to work hard so that I can do what I love and thrive.  If you do what you love and what is right for yourself and others, the experience will be priceless. Chris Kyle has inspired many people to live their lives by strong morals which help them to improve their own lives and the lives of people around them.
