"I really don't care what people think of me. I've got my family. I've got my friends. Yes, I have been trained to be a little more aggressive if I need to be, but I don't go around thumping people." Chris Kyle said in an interview. He is known to some as "The Devil of Ramadi," Kyle was one of America's best sniper with 160 confirmed kills and 255 claimed kills with 4 tours in Iraq. He protected many Marines that were fighting for our country and saved many American lives. Chris Kyle is a hero because he protected the lives of people who needed it. Chris was the son of a church deacon who grew up on a Texas ranch. He also spent a lot of time outdoors hunting. Chris went to college studying agriculture for two years at Tarleton State University. But his lifelong interest in the military led him into joining the Navy in 1999, where he quickly gained admittance to the SEALS. Not only did his athleticism help him get into the SEALS, but also his heroic personality.

Chris Kyle is a hero to many because of his determination and compassion during and after the Iraq war started in March 20, 2003. According to my research," His book, American Sniper, became a bestseller but he didn't keep the money, But instead, he donated the money to two families of his fallen friends" ( FERNANDEZ & JONESFEB 24, 2015). This quote shows how Chris Kyle was able to make a lot of money on his popular book but instead of `using the money himself he gave it to families who lost someone in battle showing his kindness and compassion. Additionally Chris shows dedication, the website states, "Mr. Kyle was known for protecting American troops while perched on a rooftop with a bolt action rifle, describing his use of his deadly skill as "Payback for the 9/11 attacks"( FERNANDEZ & JONESFEB 24, 2015). This shows he was dedicated to his job of protecting marines, even if it meant sitting on the same roof for hours, not moving and not making a sound. Chris Kyle has done compassionate things like set up a charity and things that show determination like doing his job even when it was hard, it makes him a hero to many. Chris Kyle has done many good things to help people who need it.

One of Chris's long term effects was setting up an non-profit organization called FITOO cares, it provides free in-home fitness equipment, individualized programs, personal training, and life coaching to in need veterans suffering from disabilities, gold star families, or those suffering from post traumatic stress disorder. Chris Kyle is a hero to many because of his determination and compassion. He still helps people today even though he is no longer alive with his FITOO cares foundation that helps veterans with PTSD. "In the end, my story, in Iraq and afterward, is more than just killing people or even fighting for my country. It's about being a man. And it's about love as well as hate."
