Christopher Kyle

by Austin from Weyauwega

Chris Kyle once stated "“People tell me I saved hundreds and hundreds of people. But I have to tell you: it’s not the people you saved that you remember. It’s the ones you couldn’t save. Those are the ones you talk about. Those are the faces and situations that stay with you forever.”. I chose this quote because he was a SEAL for the United States and this was one of his many famous quotes. Christopher Kyle is my hero because he was an incredible family man, he has done wonderful things for the military, and he was a Texas native.

Mr. Kyle was an amazing Seal Sniper not only did he have over 200 successes he was shot twice. This man shot from over a mile. But he said in an interview with CNN that he is not better than Marine Carlos Hathcock (the previous record holder). During his SEAL career he got 2 Silver Stars, 5 Bronze Star Medal of Valor and others. He was once shot in the back and once in the head, but his armor protected him.

This man also was an incredible family man. His family consists of Tonya and 2 boys. Mr. Kyle gave up his career to be with his wife and kids. If he wouldn't have left his career his wife and kids would have left him. His wife is not going to get remarried now that her husband was brutally shot at a Texas gun range. She said in an interview with CNN that she did not want to get married again because she wants her kids to remember their father.

Finally, I am going to explain where and when he was born. He was born in 1974 in Odessa,Texas on April 8th. He only had two dreams of what he wanted to be when he was a kid: he either wanted to be a cowboy or in the military. His Mother and father always believed in their child's dream by telling him if he wanted to go into the military he would have to do his homework. As a boy he was an avid hunter. He hunted with his dad a lot of the time. As you can tell one of his dreams did come true as he was a SEAL (military). In an interview he told Mr. Leonard from USA Today that he knew how to shoot a rifle but, the sniper class taught him the science behind the shot.

We have just taken a look inside my hero, Christopher Kyle. His military career, his childhood and his family were all very important in this man's life. I am sad to say that Chris Kyle was shot by a fellow marine while Kyle was trying to help the man with PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) (Washingtonpost.com). Never forget this absolutely American war hero. R.I.P. 2-2-13
