Chuck Norris

by Jacob from Poquoson

My hero is courageous, honorable, brave, and skillful. Carlos Ray “Chuck” Norris was born on March 10, 1940 in Ryan, Oklahoma. You probably know him as the guy who played in Walker, Texas Ranger. Or you may know he is good at martial arts. But he was actually in the U.S. Air Force, too. He was an Air Policeman. That led him to Tang Soo Do. That’s where he got his interest in black belts. He opened many martial arts schools, and a foundation called KickStart. This was a martial arts school and charity association to reduce drug use in America. Chuck Norris left the air force in August 1962. Then he was given the Veteran of the Year Award in 2001.

As an actor, Chuck Norris played in a lot of movies like Missing in Action, Way of the Dragon, Code of Silence and a lot of other films. Chuck Norris became Cannon Films most famous actor. The movie Missing in Action, was a tribute to Norris’ younger brother Weiland who died in Vietnam. If you’ve ever heard of, or seen the movie Breaker! Breaker! that was the movie that he played his first starring role in.

Norris is a skillful martial artist. In his whole martial arts career he only lost ten tournaments. In 1968 Chuck Norris lost against Louis Delgado. Norris dealt with his last loss. He was very courageous to fight Delgago again to regain his title. By November 24, 1968, Norris won the Professional Middleweight Karate Championship by winning against Delgado.

Chuck Norris is the most awesome martial arts champion I’ve ever read about. But not just that, when I read about him being in the air force I was shocked. I thought he was just a martial artist and an actor. He is definitely a person you should read about. He did make a difference in my life and a lot of people's lives by teaching them discipline and how to protect themselves.
