Carrie Underwood winning American Idol (http://www.girl.com.au/american-idol-winner.htm) |
“It was a one in a million chance that I made it this far!” quoted Miley Cyrus on the most famous Disney Channel TV series, Hannah Montana. Luck, pure luck became her belief of what got her into the spot light. “I would not be here tonight, if it had not been for the love and support of my family and fans or for the wonderful blessings of God.” country singer and song writer Carrie Underwood told the crowd of over ten-thousand at her Play On tour stop in Dallas Texas. “By the blessings of God,” not a phrase that I hear often from millionaire celebrities like Underwood, but as she continues to sell thousands of concert tickets, and win multiple awards the singer continues to thank God, her family, and those around her. Even though her career consists of non-stop action, the newly-wed manages to keep her new marriage strong, and to give back to the community every time the opportunity presents itself.
Although it may have seemed easy to take all of the credit for winning American Idol, and become one of the most adored and admired country stars of her time, the Idol winner gave all of the credit to the talents that God has blessed her with and to the community which continues to support her in everything she does. Underwood often serves the people in her hometown of Checotah, Oklahoma by partnering with the Academy of Country Music Lifting Lives to set up the Checotah Animal, Town, and School Foundation (CATS) to help the community with its needs. Then, during the horrible flood in Nashville, Tennessee, instead of worrying about the damage done to her property, the artist and the ACM Lifting Lives set up The Temporary Home Fund, which allowed people to text and donate ten dollars to help those who lost everything in the flood. With this important organization, downtown Nashville, now able to fix the damage to both public and private property, repaired the famous Grand Ole’ Opry. Now while starting the second half of her money consuming Play On tour, the performer like in her song “Change”, will donate thirty-six cents of every ticket sold to the Save the Children’s United States Program.
Although the newlywed has done a lot of good in the world, the singer stills gives all of the credit to God. Unlike most celebrities, Mrs. Underwood tries to stay out of the way of the cameras, not wanting to publicly flaunt all of the wonderful deeds she has done. Instead the singer tries to keep most of these accomplishments private. Carrie Underwood has become my hero because of her humble attitude when it comes to all of the good she does, not fearing to tell people that she is not perfect and that her firm relationship with Christ makes her a better person, and does not keep any of the credit for herself. In an interview the singer said, “When I die, I do not want to have anything. I will want to have given it all away to those who need it so I can help “change” the world. Because knowing that I had the opportunity to help others, and did, makes me happy.” Giving away instead of taking makes Carrie Underwood a good role model, but the thing that truly makes her a hero is that she gives God all of the credit and thanks Him in every aspect of her life.
