Since I was a young boy my role model has always been Chipper Jones. He is a professional baseball player for the Atlanta Braves. He is also a husband and a father and In his spare time he is an avid hunter. These three characteristics make Chipper Jones the ideal hero.
In high school Chipper Jones played many sports. His overall passion was baseball. He played for his high school baseball team in Deland, Florida. His dad was the coach at Taylor High School where Chipper attended and played his whole high school career. Later Chipper played for a minor league team in the Deland/Pierson Minor League program. In June of 1990, the Atlanta Braves drafted Chipper as the 1st pick in the amateur draft. After playing for the Braves farm team he finally made it to Atlanta to play for the Braves in 1995 as a starting 3rd baseman. He currently plays 3rd base for the Braves.
Chipper has three sons with his wife Sharon. Larry Wayne Jones III was born in 2000. His youngest son Shea was born in 2004. His oldest son Mathew was born in 1997, two years after the Braves went to the World Series. His three sons love to hunt and fish with their dad as a hobby. Chipper loves spending time with his family since he doesn't get to see them much.
Another reason why Chipper is my hero is because he’s an avid hunter. Chipper’s life has always revolved around the outdoors. No matter if he is fishing in the spring or summer or hunting mature bucks in the winter, he is always outdoors. When baseball is over for the season, Chipper focuses on hunting. He does a majority of his hunting on the Double Dime Ranch in Texas. He and his father also take a lot of trips to Canada to hunt the 250 lb monster whitetail deer.
These three characteristics are why Chipper Jones is my hero. He’s a professional baseball player, an involved husband and father, and an avid hunter. He definitely possesses many good qualities and deserves to be called a hero.
