Chris was born in 1967 in Fort Frances, Ontario. He started playing hockey at age 5. He grew up in Fort Frances and moved to Warroad Minnesota at age 14. Then he moved back to Fort Frances and graduated there. Then he moved to Estevan then to Hartford. Afterwards, he moved to Calgary, Alberta because he was offered a skating job for the Calgary flames, and that’s where he is today.
Left-winger Chris played parts of three seasons for the Calgary Flames in the early 90's. He played in the 1992 winter Olympics in Albertville, France and won silver for team Canada. Gold went to Russia and Bronze went to Czechoslovakia. He spent the next several years of his career playing in Europe. He retired from hockey in 2001.
We chose Chris Lindberg as our hero because he lives in our community and we have been able to see for ourselves all the good thing he has done for the community. For example, he spoke recently at the Olympic torch relay at Springbank Park For All Seasons. He is also very involved with hockey related special events including charity work with the flames Alumni. He has participated in many hockey games and golf tournaments for various organizations including the troops and our war heroes.
Today, Chris lives in Calgary with his wife Anita, and has two children Olivia and Cooper. Chris loves to golf for fun and most of all loves to coach and be involved with his son Cooper's hockey team. On a regular summer day Chris enjoys working in his yard and could stay out there all day. Last year the Lindberg family moved out to the country and loves it there. Chris now spends most of his time enjoying his new home, perfecting the new back yard.
