When Carlos graduated, it became harder and harder for him to stay out of trouble. He managed to stay out of gangs because of the love of his family, as well as his determination. In 1989, Carlos attended Cal State College, in Los Angeles. Eventually, he went to pursue a career in comedy, leaving school just one credit shy of his degree.

In 1994, Carlos hosted a television show called "Loco Slam," still early in his comedic career. In 2000, his critically received debute album, Take a Joke America, was released by Warner Brothers Records, and in 2001-2002 he headlined for the Three Amigos Tour, along with the other comedians Pablo Francisco and Freddy Soto.
In 2005, Carlos was givin his own half-hour show called "Mind of Mencia," which he also produced through his own production company, NedLos.
I have chosen Ned Arnel Mencia as my hero because he inspired me to be a better person, and taught me that if you work hard, you can make something of yourself.
