David E. Cardenas

David E. Cardenas is a person that touches the lives of Columbus School students. David has worked for 29 years in education, four years at The Columbus School. David says that he has two reasons why he chose to work in education: “One, because I love literature and two, because I love children.” David has worked at Escuela Americana de Quito, too. David speaks three languages - English, Spanish and Portuguese.

David has good and bad days. “My best days are when I go to visit the elementary school to see my little friends; my worst days are when I need to expel students and I don’t like waking up early.” David’s favorite thing about his life is when he is with his wife, Sita, and their four children.

David's personal hero is Muhammad Ali. “My personal hero is Muhammad Ali because he believes in himself.” David doesn’t think he is a hero. “But if I was, it would be because I love children.” Children at The Columbus School are lucky to have such a dedicated teacher on their side.
