I was in the shower one day, and all I heard was rap - piercing my ears. As I’m in the shower, I start to listen to the loud rap that is played; I realize that the lyrics really made me think about what this rapper was saying. When I got out of the shower, I asked my brother who was rapping, and he replied “Lil’ Wayne”. When I found out that Lil’ Wayne (A.K.A Dwayne Michael Carter) was the rapper that I listened to, I went right on my computer and started downloading some of his songs off of Limewire (which is something like itunes, except you get the songs for FREE). As I listened to more and more of his songs, I started to catch feelings for his lyrics, which led me to listen to more and more. From that moment on, Lil’ Wayne has become my hero.
My Hero, Lil’ Wayne lives in Florida and has lived there ever since Hurricane Katrina hit Louisiana. Lil’ Wayne was born and raised in Louisiana. He didn’t have a dad through his middle years; he left him when he was 3 years old. All through his middle years, his mother made him to go to school and get good grades so he could succeed in life. When Wayne was 11 years old he found out about Birdman (A famous rapper in his time), and how he was coming to town. When Birdman (A.K.A Baby) came to Louisiana, Wayne stalked him, found out his number and left freestyle raps on his answering machine.
When Wayne started his rapping career, he was 13 years old. Wayne’s mother had to go through all of this work with the law to drop him out of school, just so he could be a rapper. When Baby called Wayne back, Wayne was the most excited boy you would ever know. Since Wayne was really young, he put him in a group called “The Hot Boys” with Juvenile, Turk, and B.G. (who are now famous rappers). Their first album was called “Get it how you Live it”. When Wayne turned 17, he released a solo Album called “The Block is Hot”. From the years 2005—present Lil’ Wayne has released underground CD’s with Dj Drama. Lil’ Wayne would wait for people to release singles, and then take their instrumentals and make freestyles on them. Some of his mix tape CD’s were called “The Drought is Over Pt.1,2,3, and 4, Carter 1 and 2, I Can’t feel my face, and Lights out”. Lil’ Wayne donated money to Louisiana. He figured since Hurricane Katrina hit there so bad, he would donate a little bit of money.
Lil’ Wayne is a Hero to others near and far. He’s a hero to others near and far because he makes amazing music that people can’t live without, and because he donated money to Louisiana. “Not a lot of people live there anymore, it’s just not the same” –Lil’ Wayne.
Lil’ Wayne has confidence in himself, and that’s something I like about him. Lil’ Wayne has no regrets about what he does and what he doesn’t do, and I like that about him too. He is my hero because he actually started his career at the age of 13. I got most of my information from Wikipedia. Ever since the day I first heard Lil’ Wayne till now, he is my hero and always will be. I look up to him (even though I don’t know him). I hope to meet him someday. Dwayne Michael Carter is a hero to me, he could be a hero to you too.
