When he first was signed to the NFL he was drafted by the Los Angeles Rams in the 11th round pick number 285. When he was signed he gave half of his signing bonus to Hunter's Hope. Doug's son was diagnosed with autism at the age of three in 1998. He had made a website for autism and it is called the Flutie Foundation and it is a way to raise money for kids who have autism. He has made many donations in his career. Doug had played in smaller leagues than the NFL as well. Donald Trump had owned a smaller team called the New Jersey Generals.
Doug was 5'10" as a quarterback in the NFL, the average height as a quarterback is 6'3". That is 5 inches shorter than the average. Doug had played 12 seasons in the NFL. Doug is now 53, born October 23. He was a pro bowl player and he has won many prestigious awards like, the Heisman Trophy, Comeback Player of the Year, MVP in Canada. He led Boston College to a win over the defending national champions with an incredible play to win over Miami. Later that year he had accepted to play in the Cotton Bowl.
Doug Flutie was a very inspiring man throughout his whole career. He was very inspiring to me in two main ways. The first way was that simply he had played football and not only did he play it, he played quarterback at the height of 5'10". The second reason he is inspiring is he doesn't just keep his money to himself. He helps other in need and makes numerous donations. He has an autistic son that he has made a website for and it has helped many people around the world.
Doug Flutie has played all over North America. It's inspiring to see his love for the game and the willingness to keep competing at all different levels. He had played for the New England Patriots two times in his career and also played with 3 other teams in the NFL. After his football career he went to Dancing With the Stars in April 2016 and finished at 9th place in season 22. Doug had 2 brothers and 1 sister. His younger brother also played in the Canadian football league but as a wide receiver and was a very talented wide receiver. His nephews also played at Boston college just like Doug.
After all you still hear talk about short quarterbacks just like Doug, Russell Wilson is another short quarterback that is an outstanding player that has been in 2 Super Bowls in his first couple of years. When Doug was in college everyone underestimated his arm strength and when he threw the Hail Mary, everyone saw that it was there. Doug is a very inspiring man with multiple talents. The most inspiring thing was he donated half of his signing bonus to an organization to help kids. That is just amazing.
