Dolvett Quince helped a desperate woman, Rachel Fredrickson, go from 260 pounds to a slim 105 pounds. He really connected with her on the T.V. show The Biggest Loser by using his hardships in the past to relate with her and motivate her. I first became aware of Dolvett when he started his first season on The Biggest Loser. He was a new up-and-coming trainer and had a lot of success. I am really attracted to his career as a personal trainer because I would be helping people become the image they want to be while also trying to help them lead healthy lifestyles. I am a high school freshman researching careers that I would like to go into. I am a very athletic kid; I play on 2 hockey teams and haven't stopped playing sports since I was 3. When I am in the gym and working out and see a trainer pushing and motivating their client to do the best of their ability, it really appeals to me and makes me want pursue that. I would love to be a personal trainer but focus on mainly professional athletes that have the desire to be better than their opponents and I would want to help them accomplish that.

Personal trainers work with people from all different ages, according to the Occupational Outlook Handbook website, to be a personal trainer you have to have good customer service skills, listening skills, motivational skills, physical fitness, problem-solving skills, and speaking skills. This means that you should possess these skills if you want to be successful. The Occupational Handbook website also states, personal trainers have an average salary of $31,720 per year and must have a high school diploma or equivalent to be eligible for a job. Also, the employment of fitness trainers and instructors is projected to grow 13 percent from 2012 to 2022, about as fast as the average for all occupations." Personal trainers typically work in the gym or make a private appointment with clients for home workouts. You should know your way around the gym and should have a good understanding of which workouts are appropriate for various skill levels and sports. Some related careers are being a physical therapy and exercise psychology.

According to the About Trainers section on The Biggest Loser website, Dolvett and his three siblings went into foster care as children and were later adopted by a Jamaican couple and later moved to Florida, where they finished high school. Dolvett later used these hardships to connect with and motivate his clients. According to Training Day with Dolvett Quince on the Greenville Online website, one day someone approached him and said that he was good with people. He had a good physique and asked him if he ever thought about being a trainer? These are some traits that he had when he was young that caught the eye of people. All of these traits help him with dealing with his clients and make it easier on him and on the client too. Also in The Biggest Loser website, in 2004, Dolvett opened Body Sculptor which is his own personal training studio in Atlanta, Georgia with a commitment to "changing lives one rep at a time". His business grew rapidly and some of his clientele includes celebrities. Today he is a trainer in the T.V. show The Biggest Loser and an author of his own book The 3-1-2-1 Diet: Eat and Cheat Your Way to Weight Loss - Up to 10 Pounds in 21 Days,. He also runs his gym, Body Sculptor, in Georgia, on top of all of this. He is inspired by people like Oprah because of her success earned through nothing more than hard work. Although he never went to college, his natural skills with both people and physical training, have allowed him to become very successful.

Dolvett helps others every day with his job: he motivates them, teaches them, but more importantly, he changes their lives. Every day for him is an opportunity to change someone for the better and that is what I want to do with my life. Through his work on The Biggest Loser, he is helping obese people become the image they want while also leading them to a healthy lifestyle that they can continue at home on their own. Coworker Bob Harper states on the show's website, that "It isn't about winning a game, it about fixing what's broken." I love how Dolvett is able to make an impact on someone's life doing something that he loves to do and it is my goal to pursue the same career.

For me to be a personal trainer, I will take sports medicine classes in high school while also trying to succeed in all of my science courses. I already workout at an athletic training facility, and I will ask the owner for advice on the best pathway to make me a successful trainer. I am already looking at colleges on the east coast for hockey for a possible scholarship, but will make my decision based on the best majors that they provide for athletic training. I might consider an internship at a local gym to get a better understanding of the equipment, clients, and what exercises are most beneficial to the clients. Dolvett Quince is a role model to me because of his perseverance through his childhood to be successful and his decision to help people instead of leaving for the money. One day I want to be like Dolvett and run my own training business, but I would want to focus mainly on athletes wanting to get better in their sport. I think that I will be a uniquely successful adult because I will always put my customers before money and I will try to connect with my customers the best way I can.
