My hero that I choose is my uncle. He was my number one uncle I ever had. What my hero has done was go to the army in Guatemala. He had done a lot for his country and to protect his country. He used to tell everyone a lot of interesting stories about his life in the army when he had nothing to do. He also told stories of what the army was like back then. His stories were always the best ever told. Also when he had nothing to do he used to take his two sons and me to a lot of places when he had time to take us out.

He was born in January 31,1970. My hero used to live with my aunt but now he doesn’t because he had died in car accident. Now my aunt is supporting her four children by herself. When he was a child his dream was to protect people, so he decided to go to the army just when he was in his twenties. This person was important to me because he was my hero when I was a child. He has made a difference in my life by his death and by leaving his four children alone with no dad to support them. We used to have our good times and our bad times. He will always be my hero, my number one uncle.

While he was protecting his country, he was only there for three years. He was protecting his country with my other uncle in the army. Back then in the army they used to be cruel and tough. Once they’ve been told a responsibility and forgot it they were going to earn it by doing a lot of hard work. Also they gained their respect by doing their responsibility right. Almost every day you got like four hours of sleep because you had to do your responsibility right, even if it takes the whole day to do it. For me that would have been harsh and cruel. But he took his time wondering if he should decide, if he should go to the army, until he made up his mind and said “yes” just to protect his country.

Their life style is different from the style right now. The army life is different right now than from the 1950’s – 1980’s. When it was in the 1950’s – 1980’s it used to be harder than it is today. Today’s army it’s not that hard compared to the 1950’s – 1980’s. Back then there was only a little bit of technology compared to today. Right now the army has communication. The army was a hard lifetime when it was in the 1950’s – 1980’s. It’s an easier life style now than it was back when my uncle was in the army.

My hero was my uncle and I will never forget him. He lived as a child in Guatemala and grew up here in the United States. My uncle used to be a great guy once you got to know him. Now since he my uncle is dead he will always be in my family's heart. He will ALWAYS be in my heart and I will always remember my number one uncle.
