Derrick Rose was the youngest of four boys; he grew up under the watchful eyes of his mother, Brenda Rose, and his three older brothers. He also overcame a poor childhood. In "Derricks Bio" it states that Derrick was protected by his family because they wanted him protect from harm that comes from Englewood. From a very young age, Derrick was shielded from trouble by a protective family who knew he had a bright future in basketball"( Derrick's Bio). Derrick Rose got introduced to the game of basketball by his three older brothers and became really good. Derrick's family all knew and noticed how talented Derrick was at basketball. They all figured that if he could improve greatly from that young age then he could easily make it to the pros. All he needed to do was keep his grades up. It was hard getting noticed from anyone for Derrick because he lived in poorest area of Chicago. Not only that but if he wanted to keep his grades up, then he needs to get a good education. His mom tried her hardest getting him into a good school and out of harm's way. Derrick Rose was born in the Inglewood area, one of the most dangerous neighborhoods on Chicago's South Side. Bell) Derrick overcame a poor childhood growing on the meanest streets in Chicago's South Side. His mom and his three older brothers took care of him and introduced him to the game of basketball. Rose was born and raised in the most dangerous area of Chicago. Luckily, he had his over protective mother and brothers to take care of him. He had a gift for playing ball after his brothers taught him the game. Derrick Rose lived a poor childhood but overcame that by impressing people with his basketball skills.
Derrick Rose happily offers to pay for a little baby's funeral. Derrick finds out some horrible news about a little baby dying from getting shot five times while being changed by her dad."Rose has offered to help pay for Jonylah's funeral expenses. Others have come forward to donate money to a reward fund to help find the killer. Tuesday night, that reward fund stood at $11,000."(Matt Moore) A little baby girl died and Rose made a generous offer towards the funeral. Derrick heard about this tragedy and without being asked, he offered to pay for the funeral. Derrick Rose was disgusted by this horrible news and right away to help in every single way possible. Rose offered to pay for the little girls' funeral while the others had to pay to find the killer. She had died as a baby being shot five times while being changed by her father in a van. Rose heard about this and was absolutely devastated. Rose heard about a sad event that had happened about a little baby girl being shot five times. He offered to pay for the funeral while others paid to catch the murderer. Everybody was grateful that Rose made that generous offer. Rose not only focuses on himself but also the people around him and takes care of them.

He was a very strong point guard and tried his hardest to keep his teammates involved in the game at all times. He played for Memphis University for the highest rank of basketball. Derrick was beyond nervous but he knew that it was a big opportunity for him to go play with the pros. Derrick did really good for Memphis and helped them win many games. He finally got drafted to the Chicago Bulls and within months he was a balling sensation. He was sports most popular figures. Rose worked very hard to get where is at right now and loves his team. After being taught how to play ball by his three older brothers, Rose fell in love with the game of basketball and became really good. Rose went to Memphis University because of the good reputation of their basketball team. He then got drafted to the Chicago Bulls. Rose is a very talented basketball player and deserves to be where he is at right now. Derrick Rose is a hero because he overcame a poor childhood and he was determined to help other kids in his same situation and later became a NBA superstar. Overall, Derrick Rose is my hero because even though hes an NBA superstar, he still puts others before himself. He dedicated his time and money into a baby girls funeral. He inspires me to become another person.
