Desmond Tutu

by Caden from Cortez

I need you to be you so I can be me

A problem pressing our wold is segregation. In South Africa it was taken to an extreme and called apartheid. The word came from Africa. It means the same. That's where Desmond Tutu comes in. Desmond Tutu was the first black Archbishop of Cape Town, South Africa. He was also born there too. He is also the Bishop of Lesotho, Johannesburg. He says "unbunto." Unbunto means an idea that helped stop apartheid plus he says "I need you to be you so I can be me."

Desmond Tutu won the Nobel Peace Prizes in 1971. He won the Sidney Peace Prize in 1982. Desmond Tutu has three kids and he is married. Desmond Tutu must be really busy half of the time. If i could meet anyone it would be him because he inspired a lot of people.

The reason I picked Desmond Tutu is because he fights for what he thinks is right and never gives up. Plus he got protested against and still didn't give up. If I met Desmond Tutu I would ask him what inspired him to start helping stop segregation and how he felt when he was a kid. Plus if he got bullied when he was a kid.
